An 8-watt solar fountain that keeps flowing when the clouds roll in

The biggest kit in our range: an 8W tempered-glass panel and a 3600mAh backup battery drive a 300 L/h pump through ten nozzles, so a pond up to 600 litres keeps moving on bright and cloudy days alike.

For gardeners with a real pond or large bird bath who want a strong, steady jet that does not stall every time a cloud passes.

This is the fountain to choose when a small floating disc simply is not enough. The 8W tempered-glass panel and built-in 3600mAh battery push a 300 litre-per-hour pump that can circulate a pond of up to 600 litres, and the stored charge keeps the water moving when the sun ducks behind a cloud. Ten screw-on nozzles let you set the spray to suit the spot, from a tall central jet to a gentle bird-bath bubble, and a five-foot hose lets you run the pump as a piped waterfall instead. A sealed copper shaft, washable filter sponge and dry-run cut-off are built in to keep it running season after season.

Biling 8W Solar Water Fountain with 3600mAh Battery Backup

Most solar fountains are a single floating disc with a tiny panel, and they stop the instant a cloud crosses the sun. The Biling 8W is built for people who have outgrown that. Its 8-watt panel sits behind toughened glass for better light transmission and durability, and a 3600mAh battery tucked behind the panel banks surplus energy during bright spells. When the light dips, the battery takes over and the jet holds steady instead of sputtering out — the single most common complaint about cheaper solar fountains, designed out here. It runs on daylight, so it rests at night rather than glowing until dawn.

With up to 300 litres an hour on tap it has the muscle for a genuine garden pond of up to 600 litres, not just a shallow basin. The ten-piece nozzle set covers everything from a tall column to a fine mist, and because the pump and panel are separate you can drop the pump in the water and angle the panel to the sun. Add the supplied hose and it becomes a piped waterfall or spitter instead of a surface fountain. The sealed copper shaft resists wear, the sponge filter keeps leaves and grit out of the impeller, and dry-run protection shuts the motor off before it can burn out if the water drops too low.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it really keep running when it clouds over?

Yes — that is the point of the 3600mAh battery. It stores charge while the sun is out and feeds the pump through passing cloud and dull patches so the jet stays steady. It does not run at night; the battery is there to smooth out daytime dips, not to power it after dark.

How big a pond can it handle?

Up to about 600 litres. With 300 litres an hour of flow it has enough turnover for a real garden pond or a large bird bath, where the small floating fountains would barely ripple the surface.

Can I use it as a waterfall rather than a spray?

Yes. Leave the nozzles off and fit the supplied hose to run the water up to a rock or spout as a piped feature, or fit a nozzle for a surface fountain. Both use the same pump.

What stops it burning out if the pond runs low?

Built-in dry-run protection cuts the motor when the water drops too far, and the sponge filter keeps grit out of the impeller. Rinse the filter about once a week in leafy spots to keep the flow strong.

How long does delivery take and what does it cost?

Getting a strong, steady jet from the Biling 8W

3 min read Sunspring

A larger panel and a backup battery only pay off if you set the fountain up to use them. A few minutes here gets the most from the Biling 8W.

Put the panel in the sun, the pump in the water

The pump and panel are separate for a reason: sink the pump in the deepest part of the pond and angle the glass panel towards the midday sun, tilted about 30°. Keep the panel clear of overhanging leaves and its own shadow — the battery can only bank what the panel collects.

Pick the nozzle for the effect you want

Start with the tall central jet to check the flow, then swap to a wider dome or mist if it is throwing water past the edge. In a windy spot, a lower spray keeps the water in the pond rather than on the patio.

Keep the filter and impeller clean

Rinse the sponge filter weekly and clear the impeller every few weeks. A clogged filter is the usual reason a strong pump suddenly seems weak, and clean water is what keeps the dry-run sensor and the jet working as they should.
