Yes — that is the point of the 3600mAh battery. It stores charge while the sun is out and feeds the pump through passing cloud and dull patches so the jet stays steady. It does not run at night; the battery is there to smooth out daytime dips, not to power it after dark.

How big a pond can it handle?

Up to about 600 litres. With 300 litres an hour of flow it has enough turnover for a real garden pond or a large bird bath, where the small floating fountains would barely ripple the surface.

Can I use it as a waterfall rather than a spray?

A larger panel and a backup battery only pay off if you set the fountain up to use them. A few minutes here gets the most from the Biling 8W.

Put the panel in the sun, the pump in the water

The pump and panel are separate for a reason: sink the pump in the deepest part of the pond and angle the glass panel towards the midday sun, tilted about 30°. Keep the panel clear of overhanging leaves and its own shadow — the battery can only bank what the panel collects.

Pick the nozzle for the effect you want

Start with the tall central jet to check the flow, then swap to a wider dome or mist if it is throwing water past the edge. In a windy spot, a lower spray keeps the water in the pond rather than on the patio.

Keep the filter and impeller clean

Rinse the sponge filter weekly and clear the impeller every few weeks. A clogged filter is the usual reason a strong pump suddenly seems weak, and clean water is what keeps the dry-run sensor and the jet working as they should.
