The complete guide
Siting a corded solar pond pump for best results
The whole point of this pump is that the panel and the water can be in different places. Set it up to exploit that.
Stake the panel in the sun, not by the pond
Find the sunniest patch within cord reach and push the ground stake in there, angling the panel at the midday sun. The pond can stay in its shady corner — the cord brings the power to it.
Submerge or float the pump
Sink the pump in the basin for a stable fountain, or float it near the surface. Keep the outlet near the top if you want to break the water and oxygenate a small fish pond. The 1.2 m lift gives you room for a jet or a piped feature.
Keep it quiet and clean
The under-30dB running is part of the appeal, so keep the impeller and filter cover clean — a clogged pump gets both noisier and weaker. Rinse the filter regularly and the gentle babble stays gentle.
